Graduated from the Medical Department of Zhongshan Medical College (now Sun Yat-sen University) in 1962. With over 60 years of experience in oncology, he is a leading authority in the diagnosis and treatment of head and neck tumors, particularly laryngeal and oral cancers, and remains the chief expert for laryngeal cancer in Guangdong Province.
He has undertaken numerous research projects funded by the Ministry of Education, Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Commission, Guangzhou Municipal Science and Technology Commission, Health Department, and Sun Yat-sen University. In 2010, he received the “Sun Yat-sen University Excellence in Service Award,” the highest honor bestowed by the university. In 1999, he was awarded the Second-Class Guangdong Medical and Health Science and Technology Progress Award, in addition to multiple university-level research achievement awards. In 1992, he received the Special Government Allowance from the State Council.
His primary research focus is the diagnosis and treatment of head and neck tumors. Renowned as a “zero‑bleeding” expert, he developed the innovative “intermittent blocking ligation method” and “mattress continuous cross‑suture technique,” which effectively prevent and reduce intraoperative bleeding. He has achieved remarkable results in surgeries for thyroid tumors, parotid tumors, and orofacial and cervical hemangiomas, and has trained numerous outstanding medical professionals throughout his career.
