The 2025 Life Sciences Conference and the 21st Organ Transplantation Academic Conference of the Guangdong Medical Association were grandly held from September 19 to 21 at the Wanda Hilton Hotel in Baiyun District, Guangzhou.
This conference focused on cutting-edge fields including organ education, transplantation, treatment, nursing, and research, gathering numerous top domestic and international medical scholars and experts to showcase a series of frontier research achievements in the life sciences.
Signing Agreements: Learning, Exchange, and Win-Win Cooperation
On the morning of September 20, Tan Minghua—Vice President of Fosun Health, Vice President of Fosun Health Greater Bay Area General Hospital, and President of Guangdong Pharmaceutical University Guangzhou Fosun Chancheng Hospital (Guangzhou Xinshi Hospital)—along with President's Assistant Wu Yaobo, attended the conference and signed an organ medicine project cooperation agreement on behalf of the hospital with the Organ Transplant Center of The First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University, officially becoming its organ technology cooperation partner.
This cooperation marks the official introduction of globally leading organ medicine technology to the hospital, which will significantly promote the advancement of regional organ treatment and care capabilities and foster innovation and development in related medical fields.
Focusing on Oncology: Applying New Technology to Benefit Patients
A major challenge in current cancer treatment is that chemotherapy, while attacking tumors, often damages healthy organs and causes a range of side effects.
President Tan explained that the focus of this collaboration is "organ-isolated therapy" technology. This system combines organ repair techniques with interventional approaches, achieving targeted treatment of diseased organs by blocking the blood vessels entering and exiting the target organ, thereby protecting other healthy tissues from drug effects. This strategy fully embodies the medical ethos of compassion and is expected to become one of the mainstream models for organ disease treatment in the future.
The Oncology Center is one of the hospital's key specialty departments, currently serving as the chair unit of the Oncology Branch of the Baiyun District Medical Association in Guangzhou, with five inpatient wards. The center brings together multiple senior experts in oncology, has long practiced the multidisciplinary team (MDT) model, and actively develops multiple distinctive cancer treatment technologies alongside standard surgical, chemotherapeutic, and minimally invasive treatments, accumulating rich clinical experience.
Notably, the "Programmed Inactivation of Tumor Biological Activity Standardized Treatment," pioneered by the Oncology Center, received patent authorization from the Luxembourg Intellectual Property Office in 2022 (Document No.: LU501835), making it the first therapy in China to receive an international patent in the field of interventional oncology.
The introduction of "organ-isolated therapy"—an internationally advanced frontier technology—will provide key technical support for the hospital to conduct in-depth organ-isolated treatment in the future. President Tan stated that the hospital will fully promote the implementation of related cooperation projects and hopes that medical staff, under the guidance of experts from top-tier tertiary hospitals, will actively explore frontier areas of organ medicine, jointly strengthen organ discipline development, and bring hope and healing to more patients.
