To protect the medical rights of patients
with mental disorders, a special group, enrich medical service options, enhance
medical service capabilities, promote multidisciplinary treatment models, and
improve medical service process management, Guangzhou Xinshi Hospital held a
"Medical Service Exchange Meeting for Patients with Mental Disorders"
on July 19, 2024. The meeting was attended by Luo Ling, Deputy Secretary-General
of the Baiyun District Elderly Care Service and Industry Promotion Association;
Hu Yuhuai, Director of Baiyun Mental Hospital; Zou Lianwu, Director of
Zengcheng Wellcome Hospital; Zou Aiguo, Director of Guangzhou Shengquan
Hospital; Zhang Kongjun, Director of Guangzhou Huixin Hospital; relevant
professional mental health and psychological institutions and elderly care
facilities in Baiyun; Chen Zhichang, Deputy Director of Guangzhou Xinshi
Hospital; Wu Yaobo, Assistant Director; and chief experts from relevant departments
of the hospital.

At the meeting, experts from various
disciplines not only presented academic reports focusing on the characteristics
of patients with mental disorders but also engaged in lively discussions on
clinical challenges.
As early as the 20th National Congress of
the Communist Party of China, the importance of mental health and mental
hygiene was emphasized. Data shows that the lifetime prevalence of all mental
illnesses (excluding dementia) among adults in my country is 16.6%, with the
prevalence of mood disorders and anxiety disorders, primarily depression,
generally showing an upward trend.

Xinshi Hospital, noted in his speech that patients with mental disorders
constitute a special group, and it is crucial to strengthen mental health
training for general medical personnel to improve their ability to identify and
address mental health issues.
Experts gathered to express their
opinions and exchange ideas
Our hospital advocates providing more
humane and comfortable physical and mental treatment services for patients with
mental disorders. Luo Ling, deputy secretary-general of the Baiyun District
Elderly Care Service and Industry Promotion Association, shared excellent cases
and processes of elderly patients who had received treatment in our hospital in
the past. She expressed the hope that through this meeting, she could refer to
and learn from relevant process systems, thereby improving the overall
treatment technology level of mental disorder patients with other diseases in
Baiyun District, and providing standardized and high-quality medical services
for this special group.

President Hu Yuhuai from Baiyun Mental
Hospital took the lead in sharing with everyone the "Practice, Exploration
and Thinking on the Construction and Development of Private Psychiatric
Hospitals". He said that mental illness in my country has a trend of
becoming younger, and how to assist and improve the medical treatment process
is one of the important considerations for medical institutions.

Director Yang Jianmin of the Respiratory
Department of Guangzhou Xinshi Hospital shared several medical cases of
patients with mental disorders with the participants on the theme of
"Prevention is crucial in the management of aspiration pneumonia. What
elements are included in correcting risk factors?"

Zhang Yin, deputy director of general
surgery, said that if patients with mental disorders (such as Alzheimer's
disease) have side effects from medication, it may lead to intestinal
obstruction. He took "Prevention and Treatment of Intestinal
Obstruction" as an example to share with everyone the manifestations of
acute abdomen in gastrointestinal surgery, and reminded everyone to pay more
attention to this type of special patients.

Myocardial infarction is severe and can be
life-threatening if not identified and treated immediately. Director Huang
Zhonglue of the Department of Cardiology shared with everyone the relevant
knowledge and processes of the hospital's chest pain center construction
regarding the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of chest pain.

Director Zhang Hongliang of Baiyun Jingkang
Hospital gave a detailed explanation of "Clinical Application of Blood
Drug Concentration Measurement in Psychiatric Departments", providing
valuable specialist experience and inspiration to the participants. It not only
broadened their horizons, but also pointed out the direction for the department
to serve patients with mental disorders.

Director Li Zhigang of the Department of
Neurology 1 talked to everyone about "Diagnosis and Treatment of
Autoimmune Encephalitis". Some symptoms of autoimmune encephalitis are
similar to those of mental disorders. Director Li helped everyone explain and
identify them in detail.

At the meeting summary, Chen Zhichang, deputy director of Guangzhou Fosun Chancheng Hospital of Guangdong Pharmaceutical University, expressed the hope that through this meeting, more hospital medical staff will pay more attention to observing patients and their conditions during the treatment and care process, provide them with more professional and complete treatment services, and jointly promote the development of medical services for patients with mental disorders!
