Breakthrough Achieved in Trauma Care! On August 31, Guangdong Pharmaceutical University Guangzhou Fosun Chancheng Hospital (Guangzhou Xinshi Hospital) successfully passed the on-site evaluation with high scores, becoming a designated construction unit for the Guangdong Provincial (Level IV) Trauma Center.
This marks the hospital’s third major emergency and critical care center, following the establishment of the Chest Pain Center and the Stroke Center. It represents a significant step forward in the hospital’s efforts to build a comprehensive emergency care network and a robust system for handling critical and severe cases. The new center will provide residents in the surrounding areas with more solid and reliable medical services.

On-site Review Passed with High Marks
Approved as a Provincial Trauma Center Construction Unit
The review was led by Yu Bin, Director of the Guangdong Provincial Trauma Medical Quality Control Center and Incoming Chairperson of the Trauma Branch of the Chinese Medical Association. The panel also included Zhang Ying, Chairperson of the Trauma Branch of the Guangdong Medical Association and Chief Orthopedic Specialist at the General Hospital of the Southern Theater Command; Ren Mingliang, Director of the Orthopedics Department at Nanhai District People’s Hospital; Hu Yanjun, Deputy Chairperson of the Orthopedics Branch of the Guangdong Medical Association (from the Orthopedics Department of Nanfang Hospital, Southern Medical University); Liu Qianjun, Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Trauma Medical Quality Control Center; and Zhong Zhijia, Deputy Director of the Baiyun District Health Bureau of Guangzhou, among other leaders.

The expert team conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the hospital's trauma center across key dimensions such as organizational management, system development, green channel efficiency, treatment processes, surgical techniques, and teaching and research. The assessment methods included field visits, procedural drills, staff interviews, and documentation reviews
During the process, the review panel carefully observed the trauma center's on-site drill procedures and posed relevant questions. Yu Bin, Incoming Chairperson of the Trauma Branch of the Chinese Medical Association and Director of the Guangdong Provincial Trauma Medical Quality Control Center, outlined the workflow and requirements for the on-site review.
He emphasized that trauma emergency response capabilities are directly tied to the safety of the public. He urged the hospital to adhere to trauma center construction standards, establish a streamlined and effective trauma care system for patients, and truly become a solid safeguard for people's health.
Multiple Measures to Strengthen Advantages
Promoting High-Quality Development of the Trauma Center
The review meeting was chaired by Guo Peiyi, Vice President of Guangdong Pharmaceutical University Guangzhou Fosun Chancheng Hospital (Guangzhou Xinshi Hospital), with Vice President Song Shengsheng presenting an overview of the center’s development.
Song Shengsheng extended a warm welcome and heartfelt gratitude to the expert panel for their guidance. He explained that since the hospital initiated the construction of the Trauma Center in April 2024, the hospital’s Party Committee has placed great emphasis on establishing a comprehensive trauma care system. To this end, a Trauma Center team was formed, led by the vice president and comprising directors from departments such as General Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, and Anesthesiology. The Medical Affairs Department is responsible for the daily operation and management of the Trauma Center.
The team strictly adheres to the grading standards for trauma center construction in Guangdong Province, systematically advancing institutional development, process optimization, training implementation, and quality control. Efforts have also been made to continuously improve the setup of emergency functional areas, with the goal of building a scientific and comprehensive trauma care system.

During the meeting, the review panel listened attentively to the hospital’s report on the Trauma Center’s development and acknowledged the achievements made in its establishment. After a comprehensive evaluation, the expert panel announced that the hospital had passed the on-site review with high standards and provided clear guidance and requirements for the next steps in the Trauma Center’s development.
In his speech, Deputy Director Zhong Zhijia noted that Guangdong Pharmaceutical University Guangzhou Fosun Chancheng Hospital (Guangzhou Xinshi Hospital) is the fifth certified Trauma Center in the district. Passing the review as a Guangdong Provincial (Level IV) Trauma Center not only represents an opportunity for the hospital to enhance its capabilities and pursue excellence but also serves as a significant step in further improving the trauma and critical care system in Baiyun District and strengthening the life-saving network.
Tan Minghua, President of the hospital, stated that the review outcome is both an affirmation of the Trauma Center’s development efforts and a driving force for continuous process improvement.

The hospital will seize this review as an opportunity to continue focusing on enhancing its comprehensive trauma care service capabilities. It will provide patients with a medical treatment green channel and a “one-stop” trauma emergency service, ensuring robust protection for the life and health of trauma patients.
