StoriesRecently, a delegation of medical experts from Guangzhou Fosun Chancheng Hospital traveled to Bangladesh and successfully carried out a series of medical exchange activities in two major cities: Dhaka and Chittagong. This cross-border health mission not only provided free professional medical consultation services to over 250 local patients and connected with 12 local hospitals and medical tourism institutions but also received high recognition from Counselor Li Shaopeng of the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh. It demonstrates the hospital's practical commitment to the "Health Silk Road" initiative and writes a warm chapter of China-Bangladesh medical progress.
Led by Vice-president Song Shengsheng and Assistant President Wu Yaobo, the delegation brought together core experts from multiple advantageous disciplines including oncology, urology, cardiology, and orthopedics. Upon arriving in Bangladesh, the team wasted no time in getting to work, successively setting up free medical consultation platforms in Dhaka and Chittagong. Long queues formed early at the consultation sites, with many patients traveling specially from surrounding areas to seek professional medical advice from Chinese experts.
While conducting public welfare free medical services, the expert delegation also paid in-depth visits to multiple local hospitals in Bangladesh, engaging in in-depth exchanges on core topics such as discipline construction, technical upgrading, and talent training. During visits to two hospitals in Dhaka and Chittagong respectively, the delegation focused on cutting-edge medical issues including minimally invasive spinal surgery, tumor immunotherapy, and robot-assisted surgery, sharing clinical experience and discussing diagnosis and treatment challenges. Drawing on their own clinical practices, the hospital's experts passed on advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies as well as medical management experience to local counterparts, providing practical ideas for improving local medical service capabilities.
During the exchange period, Guangzhou Fosun Chancheng Hospital conducted docking and exchanges with 12 local hospitals and medical tourism institutions, including 3 core medical institutions and multiple international medical tourism service providers. Representatives from the local side all stated that Bangladesh faces a relative shortage of medical resources, and local residents have an urgent demand for high-quality medical services. Guangzhou Fosun Chancheng Hospital's disciplinary advantages and service capabilities provide a new path for solving local medical challenges. According to the exchanges, the two sides will establish a regular exchange mechanism in areas such as teleconsultation, referral of complex cases, training of medical personnel, and sharing of medical resources, enabling high-quality medical resources to cross national borders and benefit more Bangladeshi people.
This series of medical exchange activities has received great attention and support from the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh. Counselor Li Shaopeng of the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh specifically inquired about the progress of the activities and highly affirmed the initiatives of Guangzhou Fosun Chancheng Hospital. Counselor Li stated that Guangzhou Fosun Chancheng Hospital's in-depth efforts in Bangladesh to provide free medical services and promote medical exchanges not only bring health benefits to local residents but also build a solid bridge for China-Bangladesh medical exchanges, vividly embodying the concept of the "Health Silk Road". He expressed hope that the two sides will take this exchange as a starting point to continuously deepen exchanges and cooperation in the medical field, benefit more Bangladeshi patients, and inject healthy impetus into promoting the development of the China-Bangladesh comprehensive strategic medical cooperation partnership.
Local hospital leaders also expressed great expectations for the results of this exchange: "Guangzhou Fosun Chancheng Hospital brings not only advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies but also mature medical management experience and talent training models. Through China-Bangladesh medical exchanges, our medical staff will have more opportunities for learning and improvement, which is of great significance for promoting the development of local medical care."
As a high-quality medical institution under Fosun Health, Guangzhou Fosun Chancheng Hospital has always adhered to the mission of "making health a bond and exchanges a bridge", actively participating in international medical exchanges and public welfare undertakings. This trip to Bangladesh is a vivid practice of the hospital's international development strategy and social responsibility, as well as a inheritance and promotion of the spirit of "fearlessness of hardship, dedication, healing the wounded and rescuing the dying, and boundless love".
In the future, taking this exchange activity as an opportunity, Guangzhou Fosun Chancheng Hospital will continue to deepen exchanges and cooperation with medical institutions in Bangladesh, build a broader international medical assistance platform, promote the sharing of high-quality medical resources, and continue to make efforts on the journey of the "Health Silk Road", allowing the light of medicine to cross national borders and warm more life journeys.
